Please Don't Forget - Salvation Army of Wake County

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM MAJOR ALVIN SMITH

As the end of the year draws near, The Salvation Army could really use your help.Officer Helping Girl

The holiday season is by far our busiest time of year.  This has always been the case – since The Salvation Army first began providing food and shelter to hungry, hurting souls back in 1865.

And while we receive a great deal of support from our many friends this Christmas, the fact is that the growing needs in Wake County continue to place increased demands on our limited resources.

In fact, Christmas 2007 will be a record service campaign. The Wake County Salvation Army will be providing food, toys and Christmas cheer to 3,700 local boys and girls, an increase of nearly 400 smiling faces from last year.

It is important that we end the year in a strong financial position. Otherwise we may lack the resources needed to respond to requests for nourishing food, shelter, clothing, medical help and emergency aid in 2008.

But we can’t do it without your help.

Over the last year, we were able to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical and other crisis assistance to 53,755 individuals right here in Wake County thanks to the generous support of people like you.  Next year the demand is anticipated to be even greater.

I am hoping you will consider sending a gift before December 31st to help us start the new year strong, ready to help all those who come through our doors.

As always, we promise to stretch your contribution because we are committed to doing the most good for neighbors who are suffering.

Yours to serve,
